A Little Bit About Our School....The Frank P. Long Intermediate School’s mission is to provide a safe, engaging, challenging, and supportive learning environment, where students become college and career ready in a multicultural community. The Frank P. Long team joins parents and the community to support students in fostering skills to become safe, respectful, and responsible citizens. Together we can build a community of critical thinkers that are prepared for a global society.  We serve the students of the South Country Central School District who are in grades 4 and 5, preparing them for what lies ahead in middle and high school.

Academics

Our curriculum aims to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through various learning methods. Additionally, our students are cultivating skills and knowledge in areas beyond core academic subjects; art, music, and physical education.  We strive on creating an engaging learning community where our students thrive and grow through all of our academic programs.

Special Areas

Music, art, and physical education play a vital role in the development of children in the intermediate grades. These subjects support cognitive, emotional, and physical growth by engaging different areas of the brain and encouraging creative expression, social interaction, and motor skills development. Music helps children develop auditory skills, rhythm, and memory, while art nurtures imagination, problem-solving abilities, and fine motor coordination. Physical education promotes health, coordination, teamwork, and discipline, laying the foundation for a lifelong appreciation of physical activity. Together, these subjects enrich the core academic curriculum and contribute to well-rounded, confident, and capable learners.
